‘Demonstration of a closed loop blanching technology for the potato processing industry’ is the official name of the project for which Aviko is receiving funding from the EU’s LIFE Environment programme. The abbreviated project name is ‘Closed Loop Blanching’. The project is one of 89 selected by the European Commission from 534 proposals from 17 countries. The European Commission provides funding to projects centred on the use of ground-breaking technologies to tackle environmental problems.

At the heart of the Aviko project is a new blanching technology, with which Aviko can avoid negative environmental impacts, increase raw materials efficiency and cut costs. It is based on an innovative high-tech approach. The objective of the project is to develop, test and demonstrate the system. The funding from the European Union helps to make this possible.

The Commission reference for the project is: ‘LIFE05 ENV/NL000035’

Aviko has applied for a patent on the new blanching technology.
